My cup holder is broken leading to a daily game of ‘is today the day Opposaurus will be wearing his coffee when he gets to work’

I’m stuck getting the error trim off. I’d already cracked so if like to not completely break it.

Kinja'd!!!

The trim was already of at the pick n pull so I didn’t get to practice is removal why did the cup holder plug in?

If step one is remove the fire wall I’ll just deal with the broken cup holder

I spilled coffee on myself this morning. I can only assume it’s because I hadn’t had my coffee yet.

I replaced my flasher once in an allroad, I don’t remember there being anything to it besides prying it. The Bentley manual is a godsend for that car.

Let me ask my mom. She’s replaced both the hazard switch and the cupholder in her ‘04 A6 by herself, she knows how to get that trim piece on and off.

Question about your rig. Did the seller have documentation for the timing belt replacement or are you playing roulette? I’m reading online it’s recommended every 80k miles or something ridiculous.

My cupholders are broken by design, I cant use them and the shifter at the same time. So I cant drive and use the cupholders, or at least it is quite difficult to try.

he had nothing. i dont even think they changed the oil before I got it.

however... I saw a service sticker int he corner of my windshield I hadn;t noticed before. I called the number and explained the situation and they were able to tell me that the clutch had been done at 125k and the clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder at 130k

I believe the belts is every 100k. (2.7t)

awesome that would be great. I tried sticking a flathead screwdriver under it and it didn;t feel like it was going to go, but I was also being very cautious.

My issue among other things is that there are many allroads for sale right around that mileage where if the belt hasn’t been serviced, it basically needs to immediately. It also seems that dealers throw away all service records, perhaps to employ plausible deniability.

i think there is a way to take something off to look at it. I know when I replaced my cooling fan I could see it and there were no obvious signs on wear. it may have been the head cover, but thats a bit of work to check on it.

It IS because it lights up, all the symbols do. I mean, you gotta know where the cupholder is at night.

But did you ever memorize the radio reset procedure for after you pull the radio. I had two Audi B5 for over 14 yrs and had to go to the freakin manual every time I worked on it. Twice I recall disconnecting battery while doing engine work and then realizing on the drive to work the next day that the radio was locked. Would then have to sit in the car during my lunch to reset it for the drive home. At least I had the unlock codes.

The cupholder? It’s because the cup in the middle lights up when the headlights are on.

I would use a proper pry tool if possible, used a taped flat head on my c5 s6 & it took a lot of force, I minutely damaged the head unit plastic. My trim had never been off before so ymmy

I got it off but 4/6 OK the color pulled off of the trim. I think I can glue it back together
